Okay, I like Arun, his mostly right about a lot of tech, but his experience with his EV does not match the majority of EV users in the UK. I've been driving EV for 4 years now and I've had 0 issues, I've never had to wait 3 hours for a charge, EVER. The issue he made here is the EQS is just not a good car, sure it says Mercedes on the front, but they're are reletively inexperienced making EVs. Tesla, Kia, Hyundi, BYD, MG, Fiat, Audi all make far better EVs and have significantly more experience at making them. Also there is significant misinformation in his 'opinion' on this. Traffic does not impact EV batteries. If the car isn't moving, its barely using energy. The heater will make a small impact but most EVs are now heat pump based and you'll be looking at losing 1-2% of battery per hour at the most. Range lies, well thats on Mercedes here. My Tesla Model 3 gets the range stated most of the time in Spring/Summer/Autumn, maybe 20% less in winter.

It's still awesome 90% of the time when driving close distance. It's well known if you want to drive distance Tesla is the only option. Good range and a charging network you can rely on. On the positive side the experience will only get better as more chargers open.

Ай бұрын
Lord Winchester +23
Lord Winchester

@Ben WeatherillBut do you regularly drive 300 Miles like he said he does? Sure, it's really bad marketing on Mercedes, but the problem persists. Finding a free charger, when you are in dire need of one is way more challenging than finding a free pump. And if a pump is occupied, it's available within the next 5 minutes. A charge-stop can set you back another 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Sure, you could just charge up for like 10 minutes, but then you are back at the same problem after 100 miles. Commuting with an EV makes sense, if you can recharge overnight. But for longer distances it's just painful.

Someone else i used to follow on YT bought a similar-ish Mac. He was trying to future proof his studio, and spent $67,000 because of the upgradability. Just 2 or 3 months later Apple announced the move over to M1 architecture, and (effectively) left him high and dry. He was lucky that he managed to claw back a lot of the cost with a sudden rush of well paid soundtrack work. But that was VERY lucky! Apple must have known years ahead that they were going to make this change. And yet they were still taking those eye watering sums of money off of people that close to the change-over. This might not be against the law, but it is outright criminal IMO. I know when any large company makes a big change then there is bound to be some people that timed things poorly and it affects them badly. But Apple are absolutely shameless in their greed here. I wonder how many small studios, or other businesses just starting out, were completely sunk by this lack of care or warning?

I bought a blendjet for the form factor and being able to make individual servings and being easy to finish. When I make stuff with my vitamix, I always find myself adding more and more in after each drink, instead of finishing the little bit that is left at the bottom. That's a me problem, but the blendjet does help with that, I have to be more mindful of the space that I have to use. It definitely has some shortcomings when it comes to frozen things, but working around that, it's helped me out. I've only noticed the ads more recently, months after I bought it.

for the keyboard thing, it's better to build your own keyboard using switches that suits you, personally I use really quiet switches that short travel, on top of putting on o rings, that resting my hand on the keyboard will bottom it out (super low actuation force as well).

What you're saying is next level, even with off-the-shelf keyboards you can get a satisfying experience. mrwhostheboss mentioned minuses that are very personal. Sound - many users don't care about the noise they make(plus there are so many types of switches with various levels of .. well everything). The wrist strain - easy to solve with a wrist rest. Bottoming out - again, different switches with different levels of everything. Sure, some people don't like mechanical switches, but if you really give it a proper go, there's no going back. That said, I would not reccomend anyone getting into it if they like their membrane switches, mechanical gets very expensive very quickly.

the blendjet might be a bit overhyped but its actually pretty usefull for gym and work, especially when you want a cold smoothie, you just put milk and ice in and blend it. Also, to clean it, you can just open the jar from the bottom, the whole long plastic thing comes out.

Mechanical keyboards do take some fiddling to get it all right, but that’s also part of the fun of it. Trying out new switches, keycaps, foam, etc. Still not for everybody, but I think it’s worth sticking with it and tweaking things to get it just right. Personally have a Keychron K7 with some Cherry reds, some extra foam, and Mode Design keys with a nice wrist rest. I wouldn’t call myself a keyboard fanatic, but I definitely value all the different approaches you can take.

You should try a proper not marketed, custom-ish mechanical keyboard. like a keykron. The variations are endless 😊

I think the problem you encountered with mechanical keyboards was the fact that you went straight for a specifically gaming keyboard. While appealing for some people, there are far better options by companies such as Keychron and other more enthusiast brands. The recent Blackwidow V4 75% is a really good example of a *good* gaming mechanical keyboard, and I think you should give it a try.

Ай бұрын
Aaron Thomas

The problem he encountered is actually the fact that not everyone actually likes or can adapt or become accustomed to mechanical keyboards. I've had my Logitech G815 for about 9 months now. I still can't type nearly as fast or as accurately as I could my old Roccat ISKU or my Logitech G213. If typing were more important to me, I'd have either stuck with my G213 or gone with a Logitech Signature K650, K120 or K270.

Ай бұрын
Viku-Sama +2

@Aaron Thomas What I’m trying to say is that different switches have different typing feels for mechanical keyboards. The problems you might encounter for one switch might be completely irrelevant or absent for another switch. It’s all about trial and error. I’m not saying mechanical keyboards are the best thing to ever exist but you really have to branch out to get a full picture of just how vast the entire spectrum is.

on the subject of the mechanical keyboard, the one you have definitely isn't optimized enough for your use case. In general, mechanical is still way better than membrane. On membrane, my typing speed was always around 120-130 WPM and I was satisfied with that for a very long time. But the day I used a mechanical board for the first time, my WPM spiked to 150 WPM and since I got my own boards, I've been consistently typing at 140-150. It's all about the right combination of components for your needs. There are so many different switches in the market with different sound profiles (some are silent switches), different weights, etc. I'm sure if you got one that was properly tailored for your needs, you would've had a much better experience. Also I don't know anyone who uses a mechanical keyboard without a wrist rest tbh.

Mechanical keyboards vary a lot, and I would say some of your issues there come not from it being mechanical, but characteristics of that one that simply do not suit you. There are low profile switch options with significantly less travel, and certain switches or o-rings to cushion the bottoming out, and with lower noise than clicky audible feedback ones. There are keyboard designs, and maybe even modifications to reduce the sound even more. But those still may not make it a good fit for you personally. If a membrane keyboard suits you well, there isn't a need to change. Mechanical keyboards vary such a huge amount, it would be ignorant of someone to declare a keyboard better for someone for reason of it being mechanical alone.

I find myself using my mechanical keyboard more than anything else because it is what I am used to. With keyboards, it is down to personal taste and personal usage cases. You brought up major key points, being annoyance to others, which I don't have an issue with, so its fine for me, I cant relate, but as for key travel, I love my K70 because of the key travel. A lot less accidental key presses. Though membrane boards have a nicer squish to them, the good ones that is, such as apple keyboards, I can't use a membrane with nearly no travel due to typing errors I make lol

He's just projecting an experience with a bad and overpriced mechanical keyboard on all keyboards. If sound is an issue - there are quieter boards, with sound proofing, silent switches, etc. There are mechanical keyboards (off the shelf or with some DIY fiddling) that can sound quieter than membrane boards, while offering all the other pluses of mechanical keyboards over membranes.

I bought myself a mechanical keyboard and found that I prefer membrane keyboard as well. As a laptop user and someone who has long adapted to the heavy typing force required on membrane keyboards, I find myself pushing the keys too aggressively on mechanical keyboards, making loud and unpleasant noise while typing. Also, the keys feels so soft that they may be actuated by mistake easily. I understand that there must be some sort of key switches out there that can satisfy my needs, but the popular and common switch types, namely blue, brown and red, etc, just don't feel right for me and the less common switches, such as silver or black switches, cost significantly more. At this point, I just want to go back to what I have already been used to and get a membrane keyboard with good enough build quality and sell my mechanical keyboard.

I just wanna say, if you get a mechanical keyboard, a palm-rest is a must. You should get some silent red switches and lube them up to get a quiet and satisfying typing experience. Also razer keyboards suck because most are not hot swappable and they they all produce a metallic sound when you type because of the frame vibration. Hope this helps!

The blender is great for people who travel and or who do the whole van life/second off the grid home lifestyle. People should buy a regular blender for their home though. For the other reasons I mentioned the issue you had was you own intended use, not it not having an actual use.

For the "mechanical keyboard" one, here's your solution: another mechanical keyboard, but one that actually doesn't suck. Paying a lot for a mechanical keyboard doesn't automatically make it good, you have to get the right one since they come all shapes and sizes. That's IF you don't look at custom options. For what you described, just get something with a silent tactile switch instead of clicky, and low-profile. Problem solved. That said the Apple keyboard is pretty good (i admit that as an Apple hater) but i personally prefer full size keyboards.

There are so many extremely good mechanical keyboards. Your issue was that you bought a crappy gamer one. They are more concerned with RBG lighting than a good typing experience. Takes some time to find the right match but something like the Keychron Q5 Pro or Q6 is a good start. Then look around for the switches you like. I have some Gazzew Bobagum silent linear switches and typing on my keyboard is noticeably quieter than any membrane keyboard. There's also switches that are "lighter" with a lower actuation force making them easier to use for long periods of time. I'd recommend trying again but do some research before buying next time so you get something suitable! Edit: Your typing posture is also wrong. You generally hover you hands over the keys rather than resting your wrists on the desk, which is why you felt like you were straining your wrists to press the keys.

The most appealing thing about the Steam deck for me is the ability to play Early Access games on something that isn’t a PC and portably. I hate playing anything on PC but the best, most innovative games in the indie space are also exclusively on PC. Games like Project Zomboid, Zero Sievert, too many roguelikes to name, and about a dozen games inspired by Stardew Valley are all in Early Access and likely will be for a long time. I think Project Zomboid has been in Early Access for a decade this year. It’s a safe bet that it’s not going to be fully released anytime soon, and even if it did there’s no guarantee it’ll come to console (i held out hope that Noita would launch on console when it left Early Access because it didn’t run well on my PC but nope). Despite the negative connotation Early Access can have when abused, the games available through it are exponentially better than nearly anything AAA developers are doing, usually not graphically or memory intensive, and have the “soul” that is missing from a lot of games released in the modern day. Before FFXVI, I hadn’t turned my PS5 on in like six months but I play my Steam Deck every single day and my wishlist has more games on it than I could realistically ever play in one lifetime. If the Steam client worked on consoles it would be a dream come true.

The range rating depends on many variables, including driving habits, tyre options, ambient air temperature etc. The EQS's range was tested at the WLTP standard, which is already much more realistic than the NEDC tests because they incorporate more real-world driving scenarios. But these ratings still need to be taken with a grain of salt because too many variables affect the range of a car.

The problem with the mechanical keyboard you chose is one of the worst feeling and sounding keyboards out there. Yes, it's expensive but I too made the mistake of buying the same exact one before I knew what I was doing, instead of a custom keyboard. A custom board is lightyears better than the most expensive prebuilt you can buy from any gaming brand. All gaming brands require modification to sound and feel better, they all have very rattle-y stabilizers amongst other things.

I was like, "What's wrong with a mechanic keyboard? They're infinitely better than membrane's" and then I saw the Corsair logo and I understood why. There are better keyboards out there for less money. Keychron keyboards are actually decently priced considering you get all the features like gasket-mount, foam, hot-swappable switches, etc. NuPhy keyboards are also decently priced. My recommendation? For a good starting keyboard, try a Keychron keyboard like a Q2 or Q3 with Gateron Milky Yellows. Gateron Milky Yellows are linear switches which don't have a bump and just bottoms out instead when typing. For a heavy typer, that could be better bet.

My worst tech purchase was an $1000ish Alienware R4 17in laptop, It got way to hot to actually use on your lap, when I got it I didn't realized it only had 2 full sized USB ports on each side of the laptop.... both of which like to just randomly stopped working... which brings on the last point. Reliability. The CPU fan only lasted just out of warranty before the bearing died and it sounds like grinding on a chalkboard, and the only replacements I saw on Ebay/Amazon review wise way they only lasted 6 months to 2 years before they kicked off too.... Dell at this point is just going to tell me to go on Ebay as well, from my experience Dell NEVER has the parts after a products sells out. I love my Alienware 34in 3440x1440 Ultrawide monitor, but stay away from there computers. Just build your own, get a steam deck if you want to game on the go. It is the main reason I don't have a console, plays most PS5 games now and everything that came out on Xbox. There is no need to have a Xbox Series X or a PS5 if you can build yourself a nice PC and do some tweaking.

Mechanical keyboards are overrated IMO. They used to be very common back in the 80's and 90's but fell out of favor for membrane keyboards, who where softer and quieter. Try working in an office with 20 of those being used at the same time and you'll understand why... Main reason why they are making a comeback now it's due to the influencer hype and the fact they have become a sort of status symbol among gaming enthusiasts. If you've got a mechanical keyboard and it works for you then great, but the reality is most people don't need one. The best keyboard you can get is one you like and feel comfortable using. Membrane keyboards are cheaper, quieter and often times sleeker (which makes them more ergonomic without needing to buy extra accessories like wrist rests). And honestly, why spend 100-200$ when you can just go for a fully functional 20$ keyboard? I understand the alure of following the hype train and wanting to try things, but really, more important than what others say is what you think is best for you and your situation... Don't feel bad if your opinion doesn't align with current trends.

Ай бұрын
Þorsteinn Kristjánsson

i think it's a use case issue, main reason for choosing mechanical keyboards is N-Key rollover (ability to hold down many keys at once and they all register), Membrane keyboards are usually 4-Key rollover up to 6-Key (4 key meaning you can hold down any 4 keys and they all register but 5th might cause the keyboard to report no key being pressed) depending on key position and some special keys (Shift-Alt-Ctrl) you can go over the listed value but its listed as the minimum you can be sure works. For writing where most multi key uses are Shift + Letter, Ctrl + S and Ctrl + P, Any membrane will do fine. For Gaming or certain IT tasks where you set up multi-key keyboard macros for some tasks you will want at least 6-key rollover or a mechanical keyboard.

There is so much to take in with this video and I never realized how different our opinions are. 🙃 I can't disagree with you more about the mechanical keyboard, but since that was nearly the least expensive item for which you have buyer's remorse and it just gets insanely more expensive from there, it's actually very depressing by the end. LOL I also love my XBox Series X, especially because of Game Pass, hate Apple's ecosystem, can't be bothered with handhelds or laptops, will never trust Sony, don't see us being ready for electric cars on a massive scale for at least a decade and have been a diehard Opera fan since the ad-supported days.
